The Old Way - Louisiana Highway 1
Highway 1 slashes across the entirety of Louisiana.
A black cut from a broadsword, scarred over and nearly forgotten, Highway 1 connects the state from its northwest tip to its terminus at the sea in the southeast toe.
In its heyday it was a lifeline.
Today, it’s mostly ignored in favor of the bland but faster Interstate 49. It doesn’t pass through Louisiana as much as it passes it by, like a stranger on the street.
But Highway 1 knows Louisiana. It knows its secrets and its sins. It knows its hopes and dreams, most faded, some new.
This project hopes to capture the real feel of the road. Yes, there are newer, faster routes to take, but for those who want to really know Louisiana, you’ll have Highway 1 – the old way.
